Is folding effective at Poker?

Playing too many hands initially can be a risky approach at poker. At the Ladbrokes poker games, players must remember that any given pair of cards can win the game for you. However, there are some cards that are more effective than the others. It is, therefore, useful to understand what kinds of hands one should raise or call before the flop.

The reason why there is no exact method to clarify which particular hand is best suited is because the game of poker is not consistent. There are no solid rules and it is impossible to understand which one is more effective. Most of the books on poker talk about the importance of the position from where you are playing the game as an important factor. The first person to make a call, raise or fold is said to be under the gun.

While playing at Ladbrokes poker games, this player makes the first move to be followed by the others at the table. This is considered to be the most disadvantageous position before the flop at the poker games. Since this is the earliest position on the table, the player does not have many alternatives open to him. You cannot play many hands that you dont consider good enough to call a raise with.

Someone who plays after you may place a better bet, and therefore, cards like small and medium pairs, most face card combinations, and small aces cant be very effective here. While playing at Ladbrokes poker games, it is advisable not to take any drastic steps in the initial stages. Hands like AA, QQ, JJ and KK along with aces are safe bets. An individual playing at a Ladbrokes poker game can also limp into hands with the help of small pocket pairs. They are safer to play after the flop.

Another position from which a hand can be played is from the late position. The player can also choose to play from the first few positions to the right of the dealer button. In these positions, you can safely play any small suited connectors, most big aces as well as pocket pairs of your choice. They are most likely to bring in profits since you have the benefit of seeing what everyone plays and then deciding on your strategy.

Playing at the late position at any particular Ladbrokes poker game also gives you the advantage of considering your pot before entering with a marginal hand. Biding your time also helps you to contemplate on the best call to make and you can decide accordingly whether calling at a particular hand will be lucrative or not.

Which positions you play from at a Ladbrokes poker game is an important factor in determining your success. Folding is an art and some of the best poker players use this technique to their utmost advantage in order to get the best out of their game. Remember that in poker, all is not what it seems.

Being able to make a stable income playing online poker is a goal many people have but don’t live up to their goal for many reasons. In this article we will be discussing one of the reasons. It’s called hand selection. If you have ever played free online poker on one of the many sites that offer it, people play extremely different and you will almost always see people going all in with horrible hands just because they don’t care. These hand selection tips will be just for Sit-N-Go’s and will help you take down first place 90% of the time, would be 100% but you have to take in account bad beats.

1. Early Stages of a Sit-N-GO- During the early stages of a Sit-N-Go the rule of thumb to always follow is “tight is right”.

The hand selections you should play are as follows:

The left column is the stage of a Sit-N-Go and the right column is what position you are in, in the Sit-N-Go. The goal during the first 3 blind levels is just to survive, as you will be able to outsmart players as the tournament progresses when players began to bet less.

EarlyEarlyAA,KK,QQ,JJ,AK
EarlyMiddleAA,KK,QQ,JJ,AK,TT,99
EarlyLateAA,KK,QQ,JJ,AK,TT, 99,88, 77, 66, 55, 44, 33, 22

2. Middle Stages of a Sit-N-Go- In the early stages we needed to play tight, now we are shifting are gears and playing aggressive. The reason to play aggressive is you want to build a large chip stack for the later stages to take down first place. The middle stage is when the blinds have increased 4-6 times. By now the field of players should be down to 5 or 6 players, hence the middle stage. Here are the hands you should play and in what position:

MiddleEarlyAA,KK,QQ,JJ,AK,AQs,AQ
MiddleMiddleAA,KK,QQ,JJ,AK,AQs,AQ,KQs, TT, 99, 88
MiddleLateAA,KK,QQ,JJ,AK,AQs,AQ,KQs, TT, 99, 88,77, 66, 55, 44, 33, 22

3. Late Stages of a Sit-N-Go- Here I am referring to 5 players or less. By now blinds will be eating everyone’s chip stack up and putting lots of pressure on all players, but the large stacks. You need to become more aggressive then other players. Most players, excluding big stacks, will fold and play passive so they can make the money. Here are the hands you should play and the position you should play them:

Late DealerAA,KK,QQ,JJ,AK,AQs,AQ,KQs,KQ,JQ,JK,KT,TA,TJ,AJ,TT,99,88,77,66,55,44,33,22

Late Small blindAA,KK,QQ,JJ,AK,AQs,AQ,KQs,KQ,JQ,JK,KT,TA,TJ,AJ,TT,99,88,77,66,55,44,33,22

Late Big BlindAA,KK,QQ,JJ,AK,AQs,AQ,KQs,KQ,JQ,JK,KT,TA,TJ,AJ,TT,99,88,77,66,55,44,33,22

As you can see how to play poker and playing the proper starting hands really will make a world of difference. Full tilt poker and Poker Stars are great sites where to start increasing your skills. They offer free poker but with online free poker comes with people not playing correctly. It’s best to deposit a very small amount, maybe $50.00 and start with $2 +.20 Sit-N-Go’s. After you’re comfortable with these, keep working your way up. Practice makes perfect and a never give up attitude will keep you from only depositing once and never looking back!

When you are playing poker the object of the game is to create the best hand you can by using the five community cards on the table and your own hole cards. The hole cards are the two cards dealt out to you personally and no one else can see them. If the cards dealt out on to the table make up the highest hand the players still left in the game split the pot.
The Holdem poker hands you can make up and are listed below.

1: The royal flush.
This is the highest hand you can get when playing Holdem poker, the hand is made up of an Ace, king, queen, jack and 10. All of the cards have to be of the same suit.

2: The straight flush.
The straight flush is the second strongest poker hand; it must consist of cards of the same suit and in running order, if two or more players have a straight flush the one with the highest wins.

3: Four of a kind.
Any four cards of the same value make up this hand. Four aces is the highest hand and then it goes from kings down to twos.

4: Full house.
A full house is made up of 3 of one and 2 of the other. This is three cards of the same value along side two cards (a pair) of the same value, for example three 10s and two Aces. If one or more player has a full house the winner is the one with the highest set of three cards, as always aces are high cards.

5: A flush.
The flush is made up of any five cards of the same suit, they can not be in running order or it is a straight flush. To decide the winner of a flush it goes to the player with the highest card. Sometimes one or more player can have the same flush hand so in this case the pot is shared out.

6: A straight.
Any five cards of different suits in running order make up a straight, for example 3c, 4h, 5c, 6s, 7d. The player with the highest straight wins in a tie.

7: Three of a kind.
This hand is just as it sounds, three cards of the same kind or face value make up three of a kind. Once again if more than one player has this hand it is decided by the highest value cards.

8: Two pairs.
Any two pairs make up this hand, for example a pair of Kings and a pair of threes. If two players have the same identical highest pair the winner is decided by the player with the second highest pair. If they are both the same it then goes to the highest card.

9: One pair
A single pair of identical cards makes up one pair. The cards must be of the same face value, as with two pairs if two players are holding identical hands the winner is the player holding the next highest card.

10: High card.
If it is impossible to create any of the other hands then the high card comes in to play. This is the worst hand in poker and as usual ace is counted as a high card.

Another part of the hands that can occur while playing online poker is the part of middle and low hands. These hands basically have a medium or very low chance of winning the pot and they require a lot of luck in order to win just with them. Some of them, the very low hands are hands that cant bring winnings at all.

The flushes these are medium poker hands. In a game with pot splitting they can bring you a large part of the pot, but they depend on the high cards of the flush. A flush means that you have five cards of the same suite, and they dont have to be connected. If they are connected, them it becomes a straight flush and if in addition to that they are also situated at the top of the suite them the hand is a royal straight flush, and in these cases the hand will be situated in the top hands category. But when the cards are not all connected, then the hand is called simply a flush. If in the poker hand you are playing these are more than one player holding flushes, then the winning flush will be the one with the highest end card. Flushes are draws that will be found pretty much in a game of poker and their odds are usually high. An example of flushes would be : a ten flush ( 10,8,7, 5,2 suited) that beats a nine flush ( 9,8,7,6,3 suited).

Straights they are hands that happen when a player holds or has drawn five connected cards. Having connected cards means that the cards have to be successive like: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. To get a straight there is no need for the cards to also be suited, but they can be. Whenever a straight is formed of suited cards, then it shall be called straight flush or royal straight flush, depending on the big end of it. Straight, like flushes are very common hands and the Aces can be the lowest card in a straight as well as the highest card. Examples of simple straights are : As, Ks, Qc, Jd, 10s or 5d, 4c, 3s, 2h, Ac.

Three of a kind this hand is basically one part of a flush, the part with the three cards of the same value. As the name says it is sufficient to have three cards of the same value, like 5c, 5d, 5h to have a three of a kind hand. If, however you have the pair in you hand and the third card is on the table the hand will be called a set. There is no difference between the two names, just an esthetic one. A hand three of a kind hand is 3s, 5d in your hand and 3d, 3c, 10c on the table, and a set is when you have in your hand 3s, 3h and on the table 2d, 3c, 8c.

Two pairs to have two pair it is sufficient have amongst the best five cards a pair of a kind and another pair of another kind. The odds are very high, this is an extremely common hand. When it comes to comparing hands with two pairs, the hand that has the biggest pair will win. So this means Ad As 3d 3c will be better than Ks Kd Qh Qs.

One pair a very common hand that is usually not worth playing unless it is a high pair like As Ad.

High Cards this is the lowest holdem hand. It means basically the highest card you hold in your best five cards, when within them there can not be found any of the other poker combinations. Sometimes you might win when playing and Ace, in the case all the other have is a high king tops. But usually this hand is not worth playing or betting because it will be beaten by the lowest pair. A high card hand is: As, Qd, Jc, 8s, 4h this one is called a high ace.

Video Poker combines both the luck of the draw and the skill of the player. Luck comes into play when the video poker machine randomly deals out the players cards. Skill on the part of the player is needed to know which cards to keep and which cards to discard. Although luck is a big factor in the game, the likelihood of winning increases based on the amount of skill the player possesses.

No matter what the skill level the player has, its important to know what to keep and what to discard if you want to end up with a winning hand. Its essential to know the types of winning hands that are available in video poker if the player is playing to win.

The smart player knows the patterns to look for, which will make the difference between them winning big and losing it all. Here is a listing of the most common combination of video poker hands ranked from the highest possible to the lowest.

Sequential Royal Flush: This is a hand which occurs when the cards fall in exact order and suit, like 10 Spades, J Spades, Q Spades, K Spades, and A Spades. Remember this is video poker, and that the Sequential Royal Flush is different from the Royal Flush.

Royal Flush: This is when you get a same suit flush with the cards 10 Hearts, Q Hearts, J Hearts, A Hearts, and K Hearts in any order. As long as all the cards are there, the order is not an issue.

Straight Flush: The Straight Flush occurs when all five cards are in sequence, and all five cards are of the same suit 4 Spades, 5 Spades, 6 Spades, 7 Spades, and 8 Spades.

Four of a Kind: Four of a Kind is when there are four cards which all possess the same rank 5 Diamonds, 5 Spades, 5 Clubs, and 5 Hearts.

Full House: The Full House is three of a kind plus a pair. Suit does not come into play with a Full House. A good example of a Full house would be 5 Diamonds, 5 Clubs, 5 Hearts, 7 Clubs, and 7 Spades.

Flush: The Flush is when the player gets five cards with all having the same suit. Rank makes no difference with this hand. Its the suit that is featured in the Flush. For an example; 2 Hearts, 4 Hearts, 5 Hearts, 7 Hearts, 10 Hearts.

Straight: A player holds a Straight when all five cards held are in rank sequence. With the following hand, the player would have a Straight; 2 Hearts, 3 Clubs, 4 Spades, 5 Hearts, 6 Diamonds.

Three of a Kind: When a player is dealt three cards all of which have the same rank, they have Three of a Kind. The remaining two cards do not count as anything in the hand. The suit of the cards does not matter with this hand. An example of this hand is 4 Hearts, 4 Clubs, and 4 Spades.

Two Pair: Two Pair is when the player has two pairs of cards, each set of a different rank. An example of this hand is 3 Diamonds, 3 Clubs, 5 Hearts and 5 Spades.

One Pair: One Pair is two cards of the same rank, regardless of the suit. An example of this hand is 7 Diamonds and 7 Hearts.

What are the best poker hands? That is the question that plagues every newbie poker player when they have just started out. One cannot play poker if they do not know how to win, and that is why poker hands have rankings. When learning how to play, it is best to have someone teach the basics, including the best hands one can get. This is to prevent any player from embarassing himself or herself when each player reveals their hand at the end of the round.

There are many different hands that one can get when playing online poker. Therefore, the answer to the question “What are the best poker hands?” can be answered by revealing the various hand rankings. The best poker hands are simply the highest ranked cards that one can get. Each hand is grouped in a certain category, and those categories are ranked from highest to lowest.

The Royal Flush is the technical answer when asked what are the best poker hands. It is the best possible hand that can be gotten in a standard five-card poker game. It consists of an Ace, King, Queen, Jack and 10, and all of them must be of the same suit. The suit does not matter, for no suit is better than the other, but the chances of getting such a hand is extremely low, which is why it is considered the best.

The second best kind of poker hand is the Straight Flush. Any sequence of five cards that have the same suit is considered a Straight Flush. An example is 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6, all of spades. If two or more people have a Straight Flush, then the person with the highest-numbered card will win. This applies to other poker hands as well.

Ranked below the Straight Flush is the Four of a Kind hand, meaning that one must have four cards with the same value, such as a 3, 3, 3, 3, and another card of any value. The Full House comes right after Four of a Kind, and has three cards with the same value, and two other cards which also have the same value. An example is a hand with 5, 5, 5 and 2, 2.

The Flush is the fifth best poker hand, and isn’t as hard to get. To get a Flush, one needs five cards, all of which having the same suit. They don’t have to be in sequence. The Straight comes after the Flush, and instead of all the cards having the same suit, it consists of the cards being in sequence. The Three of a Kind follows the Straight, and one needs to have three cards of the same value. For the Two Pair, two different pairs of cards with the same value are needed. If one only has one pair of cards, then it is simply called the Pair. Lastly, if one asks “What are the best poker hands?” then they might as well ask what the worst poker hands are as well. The answer to that is the High Card, which consists of random cards that are different in every way.

Top 10 Best Hold’em PokerHands

1. Ace-Ace

This is the best Hold’em poker hand you can hope to have. It’s the best of the best, and will win more than any other hand. Also known as American Airlines, pocket rockets, and bullets.

2. King-King

This 2nd-best hold’em hand is still incredibly strong and will win you a good chunk of change. Two kings, or “cowboys” are only dominated by aces.

3. Queen-Queen

Two queens, or “ladies” are a very good hand. Sure, kings and aces will beat you, but you’ve got the upper hand on jacks and below.

4. Ace-King

Ace-king is a strong but tricky hand. It is the strongest of the drawing hands, but the flop needs to work with you to give you a pair of aces or kings for it to really pay off. Suited it is slightly stronger than unsuited, as then you can also make the nut flush much more easily.

5. Jack-Jack

A pair of jacks, ten-handed, will win almost 20% of the time. If the flop shows a queen, king, or ace, watch out, but otherwise, it’s smooth sailing.

6. Ace-Queen

Ace-queen is the second best drawing hand, and when suited, will win about 20% of the time as well.

7. King-Queen

King-queen, especially suited, is a great drawing hand that is only afraid of an Ace falling on the board.

8. Ace-Jack

Ace-jack is another great drawing hand. Suited is always better here, but unsuited is still playable.

9. King-Jack

King-jack, especially in later positions, is a fine hand to play, but can be beat by any of the hands listed above and should be folded to big raises. Statistically, suited it will win just under 19% of the time, but unsuited that drops to just 15%.

10. Ace-Ten

Ace-ten is still a good hand — you’ve got the ace, and can make a straight if the miracle J-Q-K falls on the board. But be wary of playing it too strong, especially unsuited, as if all you end up with is a pair of aces, you may be out-kicked.
